We are a local support group for adults who have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia or ME, also known as ChronicFatigue Syndrome.
The group is run by volunteers who are also affected by these conditions.
Our Support Group is committed to providing a ‘Social Group’ experience; a safe haven where you can come and have a chat with others like yourself, to share experiences and have the support of others in the same situation, to make friends and have fun, to reduce the feelings of fear, stress and isolation, sometimes it just helps to know there are others out there who know and understand because they themselves are going through something similar; it also enables you to have some normality of life and self-manage your illnesses and conditions. We offer a safe space to meet, chat and have a drink. There is lots of laughter when we get together, it isn't all about the condition.
However, if you are having a bad day, for whatever reason, there is always someone there to offer a listening ear.
If you struggle with fatigue, (as many of us do), no one will be alarmed if you fall asleep in the corner.
We understand it can be a little daunting at times to visit somewhere new for the first time and it can be very overwhelming but please be assured we are a very friendly group and you are very welcome to attend with a Partner/Friend/Sister/Brother/Mother/Father/Daughter/Son/ Neighbour/Carer or anyone else who helps you to feel less anxious or worried about coming to our Group.
There is always someone sitting on the desk to welcome you as you come through the door, so please never feel worried or anxious that you are coming to our group for the first time and you may not know anyone, we promise you, you will not be left on your own and someone will explain everything to you about our lovely group and introduce you to other members.
We have found in recent months, several members who additionally have other autoimmune related conditions which are misunderstood and like FMS & ME are not really talked about. These other conditions can affect people in numerous different ways, the symptoms of which can be life changing.
We therefore open out our group to anyone who has an autoimmune condition.
